Our hearts are with our colleagues in Turkey and Syria, and their extended families and loved ones who are experiencing incredible pain at this time. As scholars of the built environment, and as an academic community of care and solidarity, we stand in support of the peoples of the region as they grapple with the aftermaths of the catastrophic earthquakes. Along with the SAH, we encourage our members to support individuals, families and children dealing with this crisis. We hope to help avoid a looming second disaster for the survivors who have lost their loved ones, homes, livelihoods and have suffered injuries while lacking basic necessities against a backdrop of freezing temperatures.
